It was actually 1984 when Kirk Jamgotchian got together with Shane Hunt, and a couple other friends in Placentia, CA to form the hardcore punk band, Conflicting Interests. They played countless shows and parties throughout the '80s, along with other popular local groups such as, D.I., TSOL, and Social Distortion.
In 1985, they recorded a nine song demo, which saw limited release, as a now sought after single sided cassette, and some of the tracks were also featured on a couple of Mystic Records sampler albums.
Since then, the band changed their name to 1983, and relocated to Florida. They've continued to perform, tour, and record new material, including the album "Beginning Of The End", the "Placentia" EP, and their new effort which is named, "NE3".
The new album title stands for "Nineteen Eighty 3", in an attempt to get better search results online. The music retains their distinctive, melodic, hardcore style, while adding a new level of maturity to their music and lyrics. Each song seems to have something to do with getting older, and doing either too much or too little...
The LP contains thirteen brand new original tracks, plus a hardcore cover version of the 1982 INSX classic, "Don't Change". The current lineup features Kirk Jamgotchian on guitar and vocals, Shane Hunt on guitar, John Solis on Drums, and Rocky Rucker on Bass
